Between December 2020 and January 2021, I created a series of wildlife illustrations for Tullamore D.E.W. Honey, an Irish whiskey with a honey-inspired twist, as part of its packaging development for the Central European market, including Poland, Germany and Czechia. The illustrations were later incorporated into the final label design by Purple Creative.
The project brought together two areas of my practice: natural history illustration and commercial graphic design. I created the wildlife drawings as individual elements, designed to work within the constraints of a physical product label and alongside existing branding, typography, and packaging elements.
Rather than creating an illustration intended to stand alone, the challenge here was to develop artwork that could function as part of a wider visual identity, retaining enough detail and character to remain distinctive at a relatively small scale.
The project is a good example of my approach to applied wildlife illustration, where I develop traditional drawing with the practical requirements of branding, packaging, and commercial communication in mind.
