Natural World Design was commissioned to design the Kildare County Council Biodiversity Action Plan 2026-2031, a 116-page publication that sets out the county's strategy for protecting and enhancing biodiversity over the coming years. The document brings together scientific research, policy objectives and practical actions into a clear, cohesive publication for local authorities, environmental professionals, community groups and members of the public.
Natural World Design's role included the complete editorial design of the publication, from page layouts and typography to visual hierarchy and artwork placement, together with the creation of a series of bespoke wildlife spot illustrations. Aga Grandowicz's illustrations were developed to support the content without overwhelming it, providing visual cues that reinforce key themes while making the document more engaging to read.
Large public-sector publications need to balance clarity with visual appeal. Throughout this project, the emphasis was on producing a publication that is professional, accessible and consistent, enabling readers to find information quickly while encouraging them to explore the wider story of Kildare's natural heritage.
The publication is complemented by cover artwork and chapter-opening illustrations by Katherine Geoghegan, creating a strong visual identity that reflects the county's rich biodiversity.
