Completed in early 2025 as part of the County Cork Biodiversity Action Plan, this project involved creating two illustrated information boards about Irish amphibians and the habitat enhancement work at Gallanes Lough.
The project was funded by Cork County Council and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) through the Local Biodiversity Action Fund, in collaboration with The Herpetological Society of Ireland.
The first board illustrates the life cycles of two of Ireland's native amphibians, the common frog (Rana temporaria) and the smooth newt (Lissotriton vulgaris), combining scientifically accurate wildlife illustration with clear, accessible information.
The second board explains the Gallanes Lough habitat enhancement project, introducing the importance of amphibian conservation and showing how carefully designed ponds and wetland habitats can support these species.
Designed to engage visitors of all ages, the boards combine natural history illustration, information design, and biodiversity interpretation to make ecological information approachable for local communities, schools, and visitors.
